Chris Parmelee Outrighted To Triple-A – MLB Trade Rumors

MLB Trade Rumors

Mar 27, 2014 - 1:50pm: Parmelee has cleared waivers and been assigned to Triple-A. As he has never been outrighted before, he must accept the assignment .

So, if I read this right, he has been outrighted last March, so he can now refuse the assignment. Out of curiosity, why would he refuse the assignment to sign a minor league deal with another team?

Why wouldn't he? Players do it all the time. He might want to go to another team where he has a better path to the majors.

Chris Parmelee - OF - Twins

Twins sent OF Chris Parmelee outright to Triple-A Rochester.

Parmelee was designated for assignment by Minnesota earlier this month and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 26-year-old hit just .256/.307/.384 with seven homers and 28 RBI in 87 games with the Twins in 2014.

Interesting player. Weird splits.

Left handed bat who hits left handed pitching better then right handed. Wild variance in .BAbip on his spits, so maybe luck over 227 PA vs LHP is the big factor.

Decent MiL numbers although not wildly consistent. 1000 PA's in AA with a .771 OPS, but looks like he bounced around a few teams. 600 PA's over 3 years in AAA with a .925 OPS. Was bounced between Rochester and Minnesota.

Worth a minor league contract, methinks. Interesting numbers, could be a sleeper.
