Is this the first year for individual game tickets not to go on sale at Fanfest?

I guess since the season ticket holder packets are going out in late January instead of early December they had to delay individual tickets.

The sale of individual game tickets this season will be at a later date, though there will be Orioles representatives on hand at FanFest for those looking to become Season Plan holders. Complimentary parking for FanFest is available in Lot B/C.

Ridiculous!

Open a separate line at the warehouse for ticket packages, but it's absurd to turn away thousands of enthusiasts ready and waiting in town with money to spend.

Yup...its Marketing 101. Guess they failed that class.

Sounds like there is a different model. Seriously, I have no idea why someone who likes the Os would not at least by a single seat, 13 game package. You can trade that in for six games as a twosome and a single at any time.

The Orioles have a scheduling problem. They started offering 20 and 40 game plans last year during the playoffs and are struggling with how to fit them in with the existing 13/29 and full season plans

I believe you're correct. People finally realized that buying 13 games makes sense when you can trade them in. Being that the team is popular again, 13 game plans flew off he market. If I were the Os, I would restructure all the partials plans starting next year. I know there would be a lot of upset people, but would make more sense to have something like a 20, 40, or 81 game plan (1/4, 1/2, full). Not exactly sure how you would make someone who's had a 13 game plan for years move to 20 though.

After this summer I'll have two kids in college. Asking an existing 13 plan holder to nearly double their commitment is not going to sit kindly with many people, myself included.

That said, I go to at least 20 games a year anyway, so I MIGHT upgrade if they forced me, but more than likely I would just drop my season ticket plan.

If they want to permanently eliminate the 13-game plans, the smart thing to do would be to grandfather in any existing 13-game plan holders, but offer some type of incentive to get them to move to 20 (get the additional 7 games for the price of 5 or something like that- at least in year 1).

I don't have a problem with them not having single-game tickets ready for FanFest, though. Continuing to promote the season ticket packages is the right call, and anyone going to FanFest and wanting to buy single games isn't suddenly going to change their mind and decide in February (or whenever they ARE available) that they don't want them anymore.

Heck if you must you upgrade to 20 game plan, sell the Yankee and Boston tickets at an incredible mark up and come out ahead.

The Yankee and Red Sox games during the week are not sold at a great markup. You used to get all your season tickets at the same price. The variable pricing does not give you as much room to make an incredible markup.:) No Jeter and not as many marketable players also hurt the Yankee appeal.

    • Just looking at qualified batters, Cowser's K rate of 30.7% led the team by FAR.  2nd place was Mountcastle at 22.5% which is on par with the MLB average. His -2.5 Win Probability Added was also by far the worst on the team.  All of the other players on our roster (among qualified batters) were at least above average with that.  Gunnar, Westburg, and Santander were the best. He was the most "unclutch" player on our team by multiple wins according to bb-ref. I still hope he wins rookie of the year obviously but I have some serious questions about if he is a long term piece here. I suppose it's also worth pointing out that he was the 4th best player on the team in terms of overall bWAR so it's complicated.  There is no doubt he has some real defensive skills.  I just pray there is something they can do to help fix his head when he gets in these pivotal at-bats with games on the line.
    • I wonder if the ability to sign Gunnar to an extension has passed by this point.  Personally, I'd love them to sign Westburg to an extension.  I think his injury was the most impactful to team, and we can see he's one of the few players (if not the only one) who puts together professional at bats, cuts down his swing with two strikes, and appears to be cognizant of situational hitting.  He's a good athlete who should age well, and can play multiple positions competently.  He's a guy with a high floor but a high ceiling as well.
    • Another annoying piece is that most of these games vs the Royals in the postseason going back to 2014 were essentially coin flips. And they just keep winning the coin flip.
    • Maybe their fans were spoiled by their 62 victories in playoff games, 4 pennants, and 2 world series championships over the last 10 years to the point that filling the seats for these games wasn't all that important.
    • Showalter had a 5 game playoff losing streak..by all accounts we had good culture under him.   So many intelligent fans on here yet at the same time, I wonder how many have actually watched baseball for more than 5 minutes.  Stuff happens. This team was ravaged by injuries and still found a way to 91 wins a playoff birth. Im as disappointed as anyone. I really thought we would make a run. The problem is KC was an awful matchup for us. I have no question we beat the Yankees….but I hated the matchup of KC.    The Os pitching was lights out. The BP did a good job yesterday. We got a great start from Burnes and Eflin was shaky yesterday but kept us in it.    The offense definitely had some bad luck but they also had dumb approaches in key situations. It happens. In a short series, anything can happen and unfortunately, the Os have been on the short end of that. Is that Hyde fault?  Are we really going to put that on him?  I think that’s absurd.
    • All I can say is this, I was born and raised in this community. Left for a while but moved back and have lived here for over a decade. I know that this community will not be engaged/enthusiastic/excited about running things back given how the last two seasons have ended. Look at how Ravens fans reacted to their team losing in the AFC title game.  Good luck with trying to increase season ticket sales and you don’t make changes, bring in some signings to excite the fan base for next year. Did you notice the almost apathy that set in around town regarding this team as compared to the buzz at the beginning of the season when we brought in Burnes and had a new owner. The luster/honeymoon is now over. The org is going to have to do something to reignite that fire/excitement given how the last two seasons ended.
    • Yeah, to hell with a guy who took over a dumpster fire of an organization, built up the farm system to the top system in all of MLB and resulted in a MLB team that has won 192 games over two years with most core players 26 and under (all while likely seriously hamstrung at the MLB level by the previous ownership).  The perspective, or lack thereof, on this Board is amazing.  Playoffs are a crapshoot.  But if you keep getting there, eventually the dam is going to break.  Let's see what happens this offseason with the new ownership.  If we flame out next year, then by all means it's time to start questioning the direction. But I don't expect that to happen and I think we will be right back in the playoffs.
