Without reading this thread, Austin Hays!
A lot of caveats, injury in this case, there is flexibility and competition at every position 3-9 (&DH). Hays should see a little DH if his bat hits the ceiling throughout 2023.
5 bwar predicted, Austin’s best season with the O’s.
Just listened to a review of the AL west podcast last night. The hosts were clowning how bad the Rangers OF is. From what I heard, I think either Stowers or Hays would be big upgrades to their OF. Could be a possible trade there, probably later in the season as I don't think Elias wants Cowser or another prospect in the majors just yet.
OK folks, I have found the latest Forbes numbers for 2022. A few notable changes: Payroll had been about +$20M over Salaries but was +$38M in 2022, also Operating Costs had been about $95M, rose to $102 in 2021 but were up to $114M in 2023. Both those increases eat into profitability (Operating Income) and ultimately maximum Salaries. I have no explanation for those increases.
