El Gordo
Cubs personnel would NEVER mention a player they're after, who's under contract with another team, by name.So the answer is no. In your opinion, would the Cubs be interested in Payton and some cash towards his salary, apart from a BRob trade. For a bag of balls?

Since I haven't heard anything about Payton from the media or insiders, I'm inclined to think he's not on their radar as a target independent of Roberts. For a bag of balls and cash, yes. The Cubs want a RH CF who can hit lefties for their 4th OF. They're not very interested in Payton though, and not without $3M+. They'd prefer someone like Byrd, but he's been harder to acquire than thought.
Old#5fan
And those numbers correspond to a 662 OPS, which is pretty cruddy. So, we should ignore his horrendous minor league numbers for 69 slightly less horrendous ABs in the big leagues? How is hitting 290 in the big leagues "horrendous?" Maybe you should check LH's batting average before making ludicrously wrong statements?

Personally, i think the Orioles should send a few million to the Cubs and just give them Payton in a 4-2 deal.

Payton's attitude scares me. He doesn't seem to be above creating trouble if he's not starting.

Maybe you should check LH's batting average before making ludicrously wrong statements? A 662 OPS is pretty terrible no matter what his BA was. Especially when you consider he is extremely unlikely to maintain that BA while still not getting on base and hitting for absolutely no extra base power. Maybe you should check LH's batting average before making ludicrously wrong statements? You do realize that you can hit .290 and be nearly useless, right? It's possible to hit .290 and put fewer runs on the board than someone who hit .190.

He's not gonna hit for power, so there's no point in talking about his SLG. The main thing he needs to do is hit singles and remember how to take some friggin' walks. Plus, live up to his D-ceiling, which appears to very high. That's the main thing.

O's Ghost
I don't like Uribe for us, but not because of his ability, which I think is better than any of our options, but because he supposedly killed someone. I wouldn't want that guy in the clubhouse. his body guard shot a guy because he got to close to his car.
