Beef Supreme
It's Quiz Time. What do the following players have in common? John (David) Baker Steve Christmas Chris Coste Todd Hundley Vance Wilson I will give everyone a little time with this. Most likely, a few of you will come up with the correct answer. (and yes, it is Orioles related)

Beef Supreme
All made it back as catchers after TJ surgery. Ding, ding, ding! There you go: they complete the list of MLB Catchers who had TJ, along with Wieters (though Coste and Wilson never returned to MLB). I read someone say that Buck "broke" Matt. I think that's terribly unfair to Buck. It's rare that catchers end up having TJ. I'd say, Matt broke Matt. But it also brings up the question: will Matt ever be the same hitter after the TJ? Hundley got some of his power back, but not all. Baker never homered again following his return. Nor did Christmas, albeit it in nine plate appearances. It's not just about whether the Orioles let him walk as a free agent but whether it would be wise to have him DH if he can't catch 3 - 4 games per week. [Note: There were some MiLB catchers who had TJ and subsequently made it to MLB, e.g. Taylor Teagarden.]

sportsfan8703
If we're talking offense; steroids probably had alot to do with Hundley's HR spikes. Here's all the position players that have had TJ surgery. Some big names on the list. Selected Non-Pitchers Roberto Alomar Rocco Baldelli Jay Buhner Jos? Canseco (the injury was caused during a pitching appearance) Shin-Soo Choo Trace Coquillette Carl Crawford Ben Davis Rafael Furcal Craig Gentry Luis Gonzalez Rusty Greer Jos? Guill?n Brad Hawpe J.R. House Todd Hundley C?sar Izturis Trey Lunsford Kelly Johnson Carlos Mart?nez Justin Maxwell Xavier Nady (twice) Ray Olmedo Jay Payton (twice) Luke Scott Taylor Teagarden Matt Wieters Tony Womack

Can_of_corn
Phew! Sorry I didn't get it at the time. You might be right about GT though. No way to know. I would think that catching for 8 innings then throwing in a high leverage situation might not be good for the arm.

Taylor Teagarden has the highest upside of the list. Back does not mean good.
