I'm sorry, I might be a little slow; what does this mean?

I think it's a joke, making fun of the Royals for considering using an 8-man bullpen.

I'm not sure how it relates to the Orioles, though -- is this something the O's have considered?

I think that he is making a point that maybe since no one can hit any more, a team is better off concentrating on more pitching. That a bat off the bench is likely to be a bad bat.

I do not know that the Orioles have considered it, but with two rule 5 draftee's, six starters and seven members of last season's bullpen returning - I thought it could be discussed here for a bit.

Are you asking if the O's should do this? We do have a bunch of extra arms, including Rule 5 guys. If we ever do it, this would be a good year. We would have to have an extremely versatile bench, with two guys capable of covering all the infield and outfield spots. That's tough to do if Delmon Young is one of those guys.

If pitching is the new norm, wouldn't an 8th man in the bullpen be pointless? Wouldn't it favor less bullpen members?

I think they are talking about run prevention being the new OBP. I could be wrong.

In a league where offense is down' date=' shouldn't pitching be cheap and hitting at a premium. If you have someone that could hit, maybe we should keep more of them[/quote']

I think they are saying that everyone who can hit, is starting.
