The Red Sox over the years have been adept at this, which is one of the reasons they have the rep of being able to work the count. Johnny Damon, in particular, seemed to be able to foul off pitches as often and for as long as he wanted.

In relation to another thread today (game length) some say this is why the Sox are second from the top in duration of games.

He might not have GOTTEN to a 2 strike count as much because he put the ball in play earlier in the count.
