Everth Cabrera was an ACE client when he was suspended.

Brooklyn-based ACE, one of Major League Baseball's most influential agencies, hired Nunez as an independent contractor in 2006 to identify and recruit potential professional players, Altonaga said, particularly those from the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. Nunez received a finder's fee when the players signed with ACES. Nunez also took care of the players off-field needs, helping them with travel arrangements, housing and cars, the judge said.

...

Nunez's guilty plea raises new questions about the role agents have played in MLB's doping scandals.

... Nunez was involved in a bizarre plot to help former Yankee Melky Cabrera beat a 50-game doping suspension by creating a fictitious website for a topical cream Cabrera claimed inadvertently caused a spike in his testosterone level.

Nunez, who acknowledged that he paid $10,000 for the phony website, apparently had hoped that Cabrera would avoid discipline because MLB's drug program makes exceptions for players who can prove they accidentally ingested a banned substance. The harebrained scheme fell apart quickly after MLB investigators learned the product did not actually exist.

...

Nunez, recognized by the Players Association as a limited agent who could conduct certain types of negotiations on behalf of players, was quickly banned by MLB from team facilities and barred from dealing with its 30 clubs.

Everth Cabrera mentioned outright in a tearful news conference on Monday:

"[Nunez] was the one who got it (PEDs) into my head," Cabrera said...

"When you come to this country, you come with a little bit of naivete. Juan Nunez represented me when I came to this country. I came and I had confidence in him, in a person who was trying to help me at that time."
