"It was all because of my neck,'' Markakis told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday. "They can say what they want to make them look good. Don't believe anything they say. It's all B.S.

"But, things work out the way they do for a reason, right?"

Nick doesn't seem too happy with the Orioles right now.

Wow, I am shocked that Nick would say something harsh-sounding like that. But I'm also confused, because it seems to me the Orioles have said all along that it was about the medical risk, which is the same thing Nick is saying.

I wondered if Nick might be quoting the Oriole line in his first sentence and then was responding to it with the rest, as if to say that he doesn't believe it was all about his neck. It's hard to know how to read his remarks. The writer should have made his meaning clear.

I'm confused about that too. There's even a DD quote in the article, "we were worried about the neck".

:agree: Yes, this is odd. The Orioles did say that it was about the medical risk. I'm not sure what Nick is talking about here.

Markakis probably made 7-10 million dollars more on his Atlanta deal due to the O's inexplicably not making a QO. That he has any harsh words after that gift gives us another reason (to go with his rapidly declining skills) to be glad he is in Atlanta.

He underperformed his deal with the O's and now he has really ripped off the Braves

I have little respect left for Nick Markakis

Maybe he's trying to talk himself out of the (future) Orioles Hall-of-Fame ??? :noidea:

He wasn't worth 4 years 44M without the cloud of neck surgery.

Stay classy Nick.

Stay classy.

You got your contract with the Braves, what exactly do you have to gain by bad mouthing the O's?

You keep this up and Frobby will take you off his holiday card list.

He's allowed to jog today. Finally. While the rest of his new teammates are taking batting practice. And talking about Jay-Hey. Dan Duquette was not invited to Nick's wedding. Nick was pretty sure he could just go to Peter on this. He couldn't. I understand this is a different situation for Nick. I have heard several of his former teammates state that they are not angry with Nick for taking a deal for the benefit of his family. I saw somewhere that Nick's four homes were being posted online to view. Fred Manfra acted like, like despite his words, that the expectation was that Nick's family would move on from the Baltimore area. ~justD showed me photos that she took of Adam Jones and Nick Markakis playing on the same Arizona Fall League team. This was a bit less than a loving break up.
