I think it's definitely worthwhile. The big takeaway (for me) is that the 2016-17 class is a whole lot weaker than the 2015-16 class. The time to spend money, if you have it, is 2015-16. That FA class is absolutely loaded with studs.

It will be real interesting to see what the organization does. For years we have heard that the Orioles do not spend resources on big time free agents.

I would not say the majority. In addition to our guys- Upton, Heyward, David Price, Desmond, Zimmermann, Fister, Cueto, Gordon, Greinke, Samardzija, Zobrist, Cespedes, Span, Kendrick, Latos, Iwakuma, Porcello, Napoli, A. Cabrera, Fowler, A. Jackson, Gallardo, Kazmir, Kennedy, Masterson, Street, etc.

I agree it will be interesting. I think as long as they are competitive this year, they'll have no choice to invest the money somewhere, whether on keeping our own guys or finally dipping into the marketplace.

Ubaldo was a top-10 FA that they gave a substantial deal to. Ignoring how that has worked out, at least in year 1, it shows a willingness to spend where appropriate. I'm not sure I see them going after any of the guys who are going to get $100MM deals, but there is a ton of value beyond that on the open market next year as well.
