Well then I guess it's just coincidence then.

I'm not willing to say it's coincidence. But if you were to put percentages behind possible contributions towards the increased attendance, the NST coverage would be small slice of the pie, you know? I will readidly admit that having a station that actually wants to broadcast TU football is a plus, but there were other factors about this partnership that I think hinder the program in a way. Which is more of an indictment on WTMD than it is of NST, to tell the truth.

I don't see what the problem is with anything in that article. It seemed quite reasonable to me. The Orioles should let WNST have similar access to players as any other station. I realize the paid carrier station should get a few perks that others don't, but it shouldn't be quite the monopoly that it seems to be.

I can agree with that. I really don't think that Towson started selling out when Nestor got behind them. But as you said, I think it's noteworthy that a station actually had an interest in broadcasting them.

It is sort of childish for the team to ostracize WNST just because they're the people in town who take the most shots at them.

I listen to Drew and Rob a lot, just about every day in fact. I hear both of them compliment and criticize the O's in almost every show that I hear.

Hearing WNST complain about the team does get old, but I've been going to games for the last six years and I'm equally exhausted with the club's inept play on the field.

Broadcast is not quite what I would call it. I live in hampden, 10 mins from my former school that is Towson. I CAN NOT PICK UP WNST CLEARLY.

I get stations from Annapolis, Catonsville, and WTMD just fine. But NST sounds like a garbled mess.

Perhaps if WNST sent an engineer to the TU games, like a radio station should, things would be better.

I think this has something to do with the way the radio station emits its signal. They do it in a circular pattern around the station while some others focus it in a different direction.

In Bel Air, WNST and 1300 sound the same. 5:00 comes and your holding your watch out the window to get the signal in for those two.

You can't just increase your signal strength. You can only do what the FCC allows you to do with the frequency you license.

Exactly. But the point remains that saying that WNST "broadcasts" anything is a bit of a joke.

You get out of Baltimore county and it becomes a total crap-shoot.

And they still don't send any engineer to the TU games they "cover." I am pissed that they picked up TU games, if you can't tell.

The quality has gone down drastically.

I could understand being frustrated about the move, apparently you are not alone. I was just as frustrated when the Ravens moved to WBAL. Jerry Sandusky doesn't have the voice for play by play. Their pregame show is also a joke.

With WNST hosting tailgate parties last year I almost went to a Towson game. I like a lot of the local stuff and they had my interest.

There were already tailgating parties every game. The only new thing that NST brought to the table was the pregame show in the Minnegan Room which was VIP invite, as far as I know. I might be wrong though, because quite honestly, nobody generally stops me from going anywhere I want around Unitas Stadium, whether I'm wearing my pass or not. ;)

Well, they are what they are. I think they wound up with TU games because no one else showed much interest, not because WNST outbid WTMD (please correct me if I'm wrong about that). Not good for those who can't get the signal, but better than no coverage.

WTMD wants to not broadcast sporting events anymore. This became clear when WBAL picked up broadcasting the bulk of TU basketball. I think if it were up to the managing control of the station, they'd want to almost completely disassociate from the university. They are a college radio station in name only, really.

Well, keep in mind it's a business without corporate deep pockets. They need to do what they can to survive.

Then is it in their best interest to declare war on the Orioles?? Like I said, it is a disgrace the way both sides act. I have no doubt that Angelos has frozen them out. He is a small man in regards to dealing with people who disagree with him. (No doubt, look at the way he handled situations like John Miller, Davey Johnson, Brooksie etc.) All that said WNST has acted very poorly in covering, or not, the team. Nestor and Drew pontificate on the problems endlessly. They enjoy making fun of the team, players etc.
