The reticence ballplayers show about seeing the doctors is astounding.

It was probably for the last four or five years, every time I get a blood pressure check it always seems to be a little high
Last year, there were points where I was sleeping 12-13 hours a night and I was waking up still tired.
The blood pressure thing, who knows what caused it? It's something that runs both in my dad's family and my mom's family, so it's a genetic thing
Never actually took any action for it. It wasn't until this spring that I came in and blood pressure was way high, like high enough to where it caused a red flag.

So his BP is consistently high, HBP pressure runs in BOTH sides of his family and he was sleeping 12 hours a night and he didn't think to get it checked out?

Obviously his blood pressure wasn't that high since he was seeing numerous doctors and they weren't flagging him as needing some sort of treatment. Just last year, he went to the ER because of an anaphylactic reaction. Clearly, they would have flagged his BP as a problem if it were at a problematic level.

It wasn't that high but...

HBP runs in his family (both sides)

He was sleeping 12+ hours a night and still feeling fatigued.

If you had one of the best health plans in the country wouldn't the sleep issue be enough to get you to see a professional?

I didn't think it was possible for me to like Matusz less.
You like him less because he has HBP?

I've heard of some Yankee fans that never forgave Lou Gehrig for getting Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
