The One Injury We Cannot Have Is...

This. We have deep depth at many other positions who can at least play passibly. The drop from AJ to his replacement is huge. And that's just on the field.

Is the drop from Adam Jones to Lough or De Aza really any greater than the drop from Manny to whoever replaces him? Manny was certainly more valuable in 2013 than Adam Jones has been in any season of his career, at least on the field.

We won without Manny.

The most indispensable Oriole ever was Frank Robinson. After his 1966 Triple Crown, he was on the way in 1967 to perhaps win back to back Triple Crowns when he had a severe concussion after slamming into Al Weis's knee in a double play breakup attempt. He was, at the time, leading the AL in average at .337, RBI at 59 and trailed Harmon Killebrew by one on the home run list. Frank missed 29 games and was not the same hitter afterwards and the Orioles did not win in 1967 or 1968 when Frank was still likely experiencing the effects of the concussion. He rebounded in 1969 and we went back to the World Series.

Although not the offensive force that Frank was, AJ has that same fiery, steely will to play very hard, every play, win every day that transmits to the team.

When I was thinking about this, I was so impressed by DD's depth. Tillman-we got six starters, Bullpen-a lot of arms, C-already down last year and it was okay, Infield-stacked, Outfield-also stacked. We may not be great, but we are a good team, no matter who goes down.

Tillman would be tough. But we have lots of pitching.

This is why you gotta love DD and his Deep Depth. There's really no one injury that derails this team. We proved that last year losing Wieters, Manny and then CD.

Im used to the O's playing without Manny. Losing Jones would be devastating.
