Start Gausman out at AAA

If the other Orioles starters are healthy and they are committed to pitching them then why put Gausman in the pen? We already have a crunch on roster spots to begin with. Like most people I am tired of seeing Gausman go back and forth so when he is in the rotation just leave him there. Since we don't need a 5th starter until April 14 at least leave him at AAA until then. The Orioles can buy another week so they don't have to force a decision with a player for Opening Day. It is hard enough at the start of the year to use a bullpen anyway. Buck needs to give pitchers work in order for them to be effective anyway. Sounds like to me Buck is already letting this possibility be known. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles/blog/bal-orioles-manager-buck-showalter-discusses-kevin-gausman-backup-catcher-20150328-story.html

Unless a starter goes on the DL send out Gausman at the start of the year.

Is there any reason that Gausman should go down instead of say Miguel Gonzalez? Why not send both of them down?

Fair argument. Gonzalez being more of a veteran would be why you would keep him. The Orioles don't have to wait until the 14th to use their 5th starter. Chen I would think they would want to skip vs Toronto and that lineup. They could use a 5th starter vs the Jays. I think Bud gets the home opener. So will Ubaldo pitch in Tampa or at home vs the Jays?

I think we will see Tillman of course on Opening Day and also Chen vs Tampa.

At the end of the day if Gausman isn't in the rotation at the start of the year why put him in the pen? Just pitch him at AAA and then when you need him bring him up.

I don't think Corn is necesarily making a case for sending Gonzalez down as much as he's against sending Gausman down.

Someone has disagreed with me enough to recognize my plan of attack. ;)

These is also the fact that the O's have six starters and pretty much only need four to start the season.

I don't consider that a valid argument.

I know you don't but you aren't trying to massage ego's in the clubhouse. Miguel doesn't come across as that kind of a guy but still. Either way whoever the 6th starter is should go to AAA.
