2015 Minors Spring Camp

Sunday was a camp day. Several of the minors? players traveled with the split major?s quads and other played in a 10:30 intra-squad game. Others worked on special drills. Monday, the A-level teams were home at Twin Lakes against the Twins, while the AAA and AA teams played them away. The remaining games at the Twin Lakes Buck O?Neil Complex are; Tampa Bay vs. AAA and AA, Boston vs. AAA and AA, Twins vs. AAA and AA (12), Tampa Bay vs. AAA and AA, Tampa Bay vs. AAA. April 5 is a travel day. Games are scheduled for 1:00 except against the Twins which is scheduled to start at Noon.

Releases: The Orioles announced the release of four minor?s players on Sunday; (RHP) Brad Duffy, (RHP) Tim Gustafson, (1B) Casey Haerther, (IF) Tanner Rust.

Noteworthy: C Alex Murphy hit a HR and 3B today.

Doc, thanks for these updates. Anybody really standing out as having taken a big step forward this spring? I believe I saw a thread somewhere noting a big uptick in velocity for Branden Kline. Have you seen him in action, and is anyone else catching your eye (or more importantly, the eyes of the managers and coaches)?

Frobby, I just saw your question. Last year I picked Drew Dosch as my surprise standout player. He indeed had a much better year than anticipated, but Yaz had a better year. This year, my surprise player is OF Elier Leyva from Cuba. It's his first year with us but keep an eye on him as I project he will do better than anticipated by most.

Jay, you are already on Henry Urrutia's and Dariel Alvarez' bandwagons (as am I). It's more than a Cuban thing -- these guys can play and we expect them to contribute to the Orioles sooner than most people think. By the way, it was great to meet your son and you and I expect to see you back next year. Don't let too many people know how much fun it is out at Twin Lakes or there will be crowds coming
