It was odd. It says that Flaherty is the better shortstop. But it also says that Cabrera is viewed less as a 2Bman.

Seems like Buck trusts Flash more. He doesn't seem to have the problem getting the ball out of his glove before starting the double play that Cabrera sometimes has. I thought it was telling. I now suspect that Cabrera will go down when Hardy returns.

Maybe Buck just knows and trusts Flaherty more at the start of the season. Cabrera is new. Only way I can explain it.

I think it means Buck thinks Flash is the better defender. But what does Buck know about defense. Britton certainly didn't trust his IF tonight. He had to strike out the side just to be safe.

Also could have been a way to get Schoop in the game. Buck is about keeping guys "engaged," as he says.

The other small personnel surprise was that Matusz was warming at one point rather than Wright. I read somewhere that Wright rather than Matusz is a possibility to be traded. Hmmmmm.

Maybe Buck wanted Schoop's glove in the game but didn't want to lose Flaherty's bat just in case Tampa tied it. Just throwing that out there.
