Interesting article trying to figure out exactly why Gausman isn't in the rotation right now.

Gausman has potential and might be in the rotation, at this point.

But, I am not sure, I would go as far as say, he is one of the Best Starting pitchers.

lol cute

Gausman wasn't drafted 4th overall to be put in the bullpen. Gausman clearly has the talent and upside to be in the rotation right now.

If you watched him pitch, then you would see that he is a two pitch pitcher.

he needs to work on his third pitch, if he wants to be successful in the rotation.

He also had suffered from a lack of movement on his heater.

Granted he has the tools and the makeup to be a very good SP.

He has to work on some things.

Brian Matusz was picked 4th overall and is nothing more than a bullpen arm lefty specialist. Draft position means nothing. Miguel Gonzalez was picked out of the Mexican league and has been one of our best starters for several years. Matusz got a much longer look as a starter, but he was also on a team that didn't expect to compete for the division or the pennant.

The bullpen has not been steady so far this year. Gausman has the opportunity to make a major impact on this year's team as a guy who can get out of jams and go 2-3 innings when necessary to bridge to Britton. Let's seem him nail that down before saying he HAS to be in the rotation.

Of course, if Bud Norris doesn't turn it around in the next few starts, they may be switching places.

Brian too, suffers from being a 2 pitch pitcher, another pitch and he might be able to get guys out on both sides of the plate.

I don't want to knock Gausmans work in the bullpen as the decider as to why he can't be a starter. For one let's see someone like Bud try and pitch out of the pen, I bet he'd get ripped apart too. Let's not forget that Britton is an excellent guy in the pen, doesn't make him a starter though. Give him a go

]His fastball movement is ridiculous.[/b] If you want to see bad fastballs' date=' watch Hunter or Scott Feldman pitch.

It basically boils down to the organization, for some reason, doesn't think anything of him and has no faith in him. Hard to perform well when you're getting vibes like that from your own people.[/quote']

When he is on, yes it does.

But, he hasn't had the best movement on this at times, this season.

I defy any of you to name one pitch Bud Norris currently throws which is better than Gausman's. Bud's slider? Kevin's change up. FB? Nope.

RZ noted that veteranosity plays a role. Look, there's a very real possibility they are giving Norris the opportunity to perform up to the level he did last year before trading him.

With everyone healthy, it makes sense to try to trade one of the more expensive veterans at some point, both to clear a spot for Gausman and to acquire a bit of talent in return. Those vets become more marketable if they’re starting, as opposed to throwing long relief — even if the guy in the pen is already better than most of them.

I respect your opinion, I understand your thought process, but don't buy into it.

But, for the moment, I trust Buck.

Buck is going to do what he things is best for the overall club, with the goal of the WS in mind.

I think Norris' slider is better.

:)

But he's a hot mess, that guy. His fastball is all over creation. No command.
