So yea, no surprises I imagine to anyone, other than perhaps at how much Toronto has improved with run prevention. They have really turned things around.

Our pitching has continued to decline late in the season.

Amazing how close the NY and Baltimore are in those stats, yet the O's are 9 games behind the Yankees

Pitching wise yea we're close, but they've scored over 60 more runs than us this year.

You might say it's amazing at how tight the division race is between NY and TOR when the Jays have a +215 run differential and NY's is +88.

Some comparisons to 2014:

We scored 705 runs in 2014, 713 this year.

We allowed 593 runs in 2014, 693 this year.

Our team ERA was 3.43 in 2014, 4.05 this year.

So clearly we regressed pretty severely with pitching/defense, however we also fell back comparatively in our division offensively speaking (705 Runs Scored last year was good for 2nd best in our division).

So the moral of the story imo is that we really need to get better with pitching, but we don't want to have the 4th best offense in our division next year either.

We had a winning record against Boston, New York and Tampa, and weren't too bad (8-11) against Toronto. All that in what turned out to be the strongest division in the AL and the second-strongest in baseball:

AL East +28

AL Central +10

AL West -4

NL East -62

NL Central +44

NL West -16

Basically, Minnesota (0-7) and Texas (1-6) killed us.

Wow, we split those 14 games and we're in the playoffs.
