It was sarcasm. A-Rod was a PH but literally took 60-90 seconds to get into the box after he was announced to pitch.

It was really "much ado about nothing". A-roid came up as a pinch-hitter and maybe took a few more seconds than he should (he'll probably get a reprimand from MLB under the current "PACE OF PLAY" rules). Did he take 17 minutes? No, that was just sarcasm from Thorne/Palmer. Did he he seem a bit slow getting to the plate as a pinch-hitter--hell yes. Britton got him out and sent his cheating A** back to the bench.
