We absolutely do get it. The Orioles stunk until Andy MacPhail arrived. ANd then Buck came aboard. And then Dan took it turbo. The Brick wants to talk about that horrible bad stuff. It's his right. He is not right about evaluating pitching prospects. I'll listen to the experts that I hear talk about Dylan.

I agree, lots of young arms in the systems and there is more depth now, then in the past couple of decades.

Harvey, Bundy, Tilly, Gausman & Wilson, might just makes us spoiled again. :)

We've been dreaming about our prospects maxing out for many years now. I remember everyone being very excited about Bedard/Cabrera/Loewen/Penn, and Matusz/Tillman/Arrieta/Britton/Bergesen.

Meanwhile, our leader in wins among home grown starters who were called up to the Orioles after Mussina is: Sidney Ponson.

I get it, we dream, which is better than nightmares.

Hopefully in 20 years, we will see a new set of Leaders along side of Mussina.

Tony, are you seeing the depth and break on his CU that he had when he was signed? That along with his cutter were plus offerings. Is he throwing the cutter again? I'm actually encouraged that his FB has ticked up compared to what most people saw in ST.

Without any options after this season he has little relative time with the innings limit they have him on to learn ML hitters going into next year. People may have to temper expectations until mid 2016 before we see positive results at the ML level.

I think that is the first I have heard anyone said that Bundy projects to not become a #1 pitcher. Tony projecting him as middle of the rotation. Tony also says that Harvey has passed Bundy as the O's #1 prospect.

Breaking news from Tony.

Thanks, but just to be clear, I said some scouts that I talked to now think he's going to be more of a mid-rotation starter now. I haven't made up my mind until I see him throughout this year.

Thanks, Tony.

You made that clear on the show (and it is in my paraphrasing):

oThe Orioles are still very high on him. Perhaps they no longer see him as a #1 starter, but they certainly still see him as at least a solid # 3 or #4 starter in the Big Leagues.

You said "They", not "I". :)

Interesting take on Bundy, Harvey, and Wright. I would really like to hear about where Tyler Wilson fits in all this. If Tony is correct that the organization's thinking is for Wright to become a bullpen guy, what about Wilson? He had a great spring and has been solid at every level. Could we see him as a starter in 2016?

I haven't seen him yet this year, but will be looking for all of that when I see him soon. I have heard the power in the curveball has not yet returned but that was based off spring training rather than his Bowie work.

Wilson profiles better as a starter since he really doesn't have that power swing and miss pitch. He and Davies still profile as starters for me.

    • I think it’s like when our fans are terrified because a team brings up a spot starter from AAA and we fear they are going to turn into Cy Young.
    • “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.” — A Bartlett Giamatti https://mason.gmu.edu/~rmatz/giamatti.html

By any measure, Cowser is leading AL rookies in WAR, and it’s not that close. “

    • Every year at the end of the season, I feel a little melancholy. For me, the end of summer is not the start of school or the arrival of fall, but the end of baseball season. Today is the last day of a long song, and I will miss it. I know we have at least four more days, but those are in a different category, although I will miss that too when it ends. During the darkest days of the season, I posted frequently that the worst day of baseball is still baseball. When the Os played terrible, I would go focus on the Brewers or the A’s or Mariners(who were almost as frustrating as the Os) and follow along with former Orioles, rooting for all of them. That will all stop by tonight, and I will miss it until next February, when pitchers and catchers report. If I’m still here, I’ll be here.    Go Os…
    • We have to wait and see. But it shouldn’t matter as you have to beat whomever you play.
