BALTIMORE, MD Lace up your running shoes for an incredible cause! The Casey Cares Foundation today announced that its 6th Annual Casey Cares 5K takes place on Saturday, August 1st at Camden Yards in partnership with OriolesREACH. Race registration is now open! Proceeds of the event benefit the Casey Cares Foundation, which provides uplifting and ongoing programs with a special touch to critically ill children and their families.

The 3.1 mile run/walk begins and ends at Camden Yards (with an on-field finish!) and includes post-race refreshments. Early registrants will receive a race t-shirt. Race winners in each age group will be announced in a pre-game ceremony at the game. Event sponsors include CBS Radio and MASN.

"We are thrilled to partner with such an incredible organization as the Orioles for our 5K for the third year in row," said Casey Baynes, founder and Executive Director of the Casey Cares Foundation. "While many Casey Cares children do their running through the halls in the hospital, you can help support these critically-ill children and their families by running or walking in our 5K.?

Registration for the race is open April 13th through August 1st, and both teams and individuals are encouraged to register. Entry fees are $30 per person through June 8; $35 per person June 9 - July 31; and $40 on race day. To register, visit www.caseycares5k.org.

    • 2 hits in 29 at-bats?   I feel bad for him- what a rough start to the year.   He hit pretty well last year so I assume he'll heat up at some point but that is a slump and a half...
    • Misspelled Gary Thorne.
    • Maybe, but the other aspect I was considering is how fans travel. Baltimore won't get fans traveling from Los Angeles, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Minneapolis or Oakland. But they will from the likes of Philly, New York, Boston, Toronto, etc, especially as the O's continue to win and the weather gets nicer. But if the O's can draw 25,000+ locally for an April weekend series against the A's, then I would expect some huge attendance numbers the rest of the season.
    • Give Roch a giant trophy for his "streak".  Its a lot cheaper than extending Gunnar or Adley.
    • Emotional?  I don't think Elias is the emotional type. The incentive for another team is to get a guy that can eat innings. A 100 loss team needs cheap guys that can eat innings. We've been the 100 loss team often enough to know.
    • I tend to disagree with is perspective being as relevant now. Traditionally attendance was influenced/dependent upon the opponent draw. Our fans wanting to see “the better teams” and the bigger fan bases visiting the Yard. However, I believe that times have changed. Because we have so many homegrown stars and such an excellent team, the O’s are much more of a draw themselves since the days of Cal Ripken. The Oakland series will be well attended. Early this week I purchased tix to next Sunday’s game and there were very few sections that had 4 tix available. And this is for the lowly Athletics.
    • The Orioles are the one team that has an investment in him, both monetary and emotional.   They are the one team incentivized to have him pitch in the majors this year. What ML team, rebuilding or not, wants to take a pitcher who’s given up 14 hits, including 5 home runs, in 7 AAA innings, stick him in their bullpen, so he can keep accumulating FA service time? What’s their incentive?   That he’s going to magically turn into the 2021 John Means and they can flip him at the deadline?    While it’s possible that he regains form, I don’t think there’s a ML team willing to take the lumps on a longshot.
