O's game times & tix at the Trop this weekend

This could be an opportunity for something pretty magical to happen, IMO. If the tables were turned and we had to host another team and let them play as the home team, do you think there's any way we could or would cheer for them - even a little bit? I don't expect it, but I think it would be an incredible gesture for the Tampa crowd to cheer for the O's - at least as they're introduced - to give them a little boost. As Buck says, nobody is going to feel sorry for you, but sportsmanship is what it is, and I think this would be a great time for Rays fans to show some real class.

Do I expect them to roar if we win a game on a walk-off home run? No, but it would make for one hell of a story.

Sort of hurts the Orioles gate prices though, since that's all their income. I realize the idea is to make it affordable so people show up on quick notice which makes sense.

I'd like to show up and pay $15 and sit behind home plate row 1 in my O's shirt, that'd be fun. Can someone pay the $300 flights for me?

The Orioles would have preferred to swap a series with Tampa Bay and make up this weekend’s set in July in Baltimore, but they couldn’t get the Rays to agree on that. Instead, the three games being played at Tropicana Field –which will be $15 a ticket as general admissions–will be a huge revenue hit to Baltimore.

Moved due to safety concerns over the riots in downtown Baltimore, the O’s will get the ticket and concession money this weekend at Tropicana Field, which isn’t expected to be much. They will also have to pay for staffing and any other expense costs.

David said he could understand the reasons for moving this weekend's series to Florida.

"I think when you start thinking about what it would require for us to play here - the amount of security, what it would take away from the city - you realize what is most important. What is most important to us is that the city gets back on its feet. We don't want anything to take away from that."

But doesn't now having 78 true home games and 84 on the road put the Orioles at a competitive disadvantage?

"We're going to be wearing white uniforms so it will be just like we're playing here," Davis said laughing. "You have to put that out of your mind and focus on the game. We know we'll be the home team in another team's stadium, but it is what is best for us and what is best for the city right now and we just to comply."
