Manager Buck Showalter is hoping that catcher Matt Wieters will be ready to come off the 60-day disabled list when eligible on June 4. Teams can't backdate a 60-day assignment, so forget the return date that was first reported.

Wieters caught nine innings today at extended spring training instead of eight. He's scheduled to catch nine again on Thursday and Saturday.

Spent most of his minor league career in the Saint Louis system. 2014 was his best, 3.03 ERA and 1.267 WHIP at the AAA level. Nothing much to get excited about.

What's the max rehab time one player can be on out of curiousity? I wouldn't bring him up until you know for sure he is ready. I really like Joseph.
