Having gone 3-12 in their last 15 games and 6-16 since the All-Star break, the Twins now find themselves one game below .500, at 55-56.

After a promising first 90 games of the season (50-40), the Twins appear to have lost hope for a postseason birth.

...and they're still three games ahead of their Pythag W-L. :o

Since the start of the 2002 season, the Twins are 27-68 against the Yankees for a .284 winning percentage. A .284 clip gets you 46 wins in a 162 game season. You would think that this means the Twins were a bad team during these 14 years, but they have actually played the rest of the majors at a .516 clip over that same stretch of time. And if you think that is bad, consider that the Twins have been eliminated by the Yankees in the playoffs all 4 times they have faced them and have gone 2-12 in the process.

So basically, the Twins are completely useless when they face New York. Makes you wonder whether grown men actually fear the logo on another team's jersey.

(SEPTEMBER 14th)

On August 19th, the Twins stood at 59-61 overall, and appeared to be dead in the water. They had gone 9-21 in their previous 30 games, after having started the season at 50-40.

But since then, the Twins have gone 15-7, and have reasserted themselves back into the American League Wildcard playoff picture.
