Davis making contact

Don't look now, but Chris Davis has gone 3 straight games without striking out for the first time all season. He also has only 7 K's in his last 9 games. For a player striking out over 1.4 times per game, that's no small feat.

Davis often goes through these stretches where he either can't hit the broadside of a barn, or he's as locked in as the Terminator. Hopefully he can keep this up a little longer than normal. The last time he had this contact rate (first week of May) it never lasts more than a week. But this stretch seems to be lasting a bit longer if you go back to May 21st against SEA.

More like the catcher couldn't hold onto the ball. Davis cannot hit inside pitching. I like Davis and think his defense his underrated, but the guy has serious holes in his swing.

I was going to point out that Davis had at least two hits in the last two days on pitches right on the inside corner. Those are pitches that give him trouble even when he's going pretty well.

That's not a bad idea if they're willing to pony up. But, it ain't happening unless the team is selling at the trade deadline.

If they pony up ID be for it provides the Red Sox do the scouting for us...

But in all reality, can we admit Davis is gone after this yr? If so, then do you risk letting fo what coil be a cog in the lineup who might or might not be turning a corner on the season, for some prospects?

For me it has to be for at least two very good prospects and a few b lebel ones.

It would have to block the Os away in a trade.

Davis is riding a 10 game hitting streak in which he's hitting .351/.429/.730. Since this thread was started, his strikeouts have been pretty reasonable -- 29 K's in 28 games for June. That's high for most players, but low for Davis. If he can keep his K rate in that area, he'll have a good year.

I feel like he isn't going the other way as often as he used to... but the spray charts don't seem to be making that argument.

He definitely seemed to have a few more doubles down the LF line in 2013. But other than that he's spraying the ball pretty decently (for him).
