There are guys who endeared themselves to me by performing well for my fantasy or Strat-o-Matic team: Troy Tulowitzki, Maddux (again), Jason Kipnis, Jack McDowell, Juan Gonzalez.

Maybe this is strange, but I have a personal statute of limitations on hating players. I find it difficult to like anyone who is playing or will play against the Orioles. The minute I think they're a swell guy they hit a homer against Chris Tillman and I want to strangle them. But once they're retired for a few years it all fades away. As a child Reggie was Darth Vader and Hitler rolled up into one. Now, to me, he's this almost comically self-promoting Hall of Famer who was a Athletic for a while, a Yank for a while, and an Angel for a while... but just some old ballplayer who did some cool stuff and I kind of remember wanting to kill when I was 12.

I dislike all players from other teams, but I reserve a special place in my own personal Hall of Dislike for players like me (well, like I was in pathetic rec sports leagues) - the short, quick guy who hustles and argues and finds all the loopholes in the rules and tries to take out the second baseman on the double play even though I'm out by 23 feet. I loathe Pedrioa, but he'd be my favorite player in the world if he was an Oriole.
