Thoroughly impressed

Today may have been the most impressive baseball I've ever seen from this team in 2015. A doubleheader twin shutout! Can't ask for much more than that.

Hats off to Tillman and Ubaldo, and <sigh> TJ I suppose. And good job by the defense as always.

Sure the Indians aren't murderers row, but you've still gotta take care of business. Clearly both starters trusted their stuff today and threw strikes, which is a big part of how you win games against inferior teams.

And I continue to be impressed by how well the offense has responded to Jones' injury. Lesser teams would have been broken by that; our O's got inspired. Now THAT's baseball!

Double header sweeps are tough as is but double shutouts is really impressive. A reason why we hadn't had one since 1974. Agree, very impressive work all around:

Great OP, I totally agree. What a great day for the O's - double shutout, sweep, and jumping from third to first in one day. GREAT day of pitching, and this offense is just tearing the cover off the ball right now. Fun stuff to watch.

Yeah, but with a lineup featuring Jason Kipnis, Michael Brantley, David Murphy, Ryan Raburn and Brandon Moss, they aren't chopped liver either. Kipnis had his 20-game hitting streak snapped and went 0-7. Well done.

In a strange way it's been a blessing because the glut of above-average OF we have, have gotten more work in. Snider and Pearce in particular have improved. Pearce is almost hitting .220 now! :D And Jones is still influencing the clubhouse I'm sure.

We've seen this before. The team has a grasp of what it will take to beat an opponent and folks do their job and get it done.

If the starting pitching is going to get in line with the other strengths, this team is about to go on another strong summer run.

I just got back from both games. There was a screw up on the Light Rail and I didn't get back until 12:30 after midnight. At any rate, these games were awesome. Ubaldo was light-out. He was due for a game like this. Tilly was just about as lights-out. Ubaldo pitched 8 shutout innings, 7 Ks, and ZERO walks. Tilly pitched 7 shutout innings. Perhaps Wallace told the starting staff that they need to go longer in the games. We'll see how Bud Norris takes this advice on Monday.

Jones pied Travis Snider after the 2nd game. You could see pieces of pie flying into the fans who were watching. :laughlol::D

Some of the level of play was the way Buck approach the game. Doubleheaders are a chance to play everyone. However, Buck did not do that. He had 32 year old Hardy play 18 innings. He could have had Flaherty play SS one game and Pearce play 2nd but Buck stayed with his best.

Delmon did not play the outfield.

Buck acted like he really wanted to win these games and move into first place.

This comment confuses me - is it a criticism? Do you think Buck is over-working players? Are you impressed with his desire to win both ends? Is it both? Confusion.

Its an observation not a criticism.

Of course. JJ can handle it I am sure.
