Telling me that 5 hour energy drink tastes great isn't going to make me believe it doesn't taste like hummingbird piss.

I'll defer to you since I have never tried it but I would have thought that hummingbird's would have some of the tastiest urine out there. Considering their diet.

With the Yankees trailing by a score of 4-3 in the bottom of the 10th inning, they had runners on 1st and 2nd base with 2 outs.

Mark Teixeira, who had been 0-for-4 with 2 strikeouts up to that point stepped to the plate.

The first pitch was RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE ...... and the umpire called it a ball.

The count went to 3-0 after the next 2 pitches. Then Tyler Clippard struck him out on 3 straight pitches.

In spite of the umpire doing everything he could to help him, Teixeira wound up going 0-for-5 with 3 strikeouts on the day ...... and his batting average for the season dipped down to .239.

I agree with the adage "You're never as bad as you look" and its corollary. Even with the mini slumps, they're still 1.5 out (or 2.5 if NY wins ). Could be much worse (see Boston, while playing better, in a much deeper hole). I have faith a winning cluster of games are on the way. I do hope Buck has a talk to them, as someone mentioned. They are better than this.

It's simple, they need to get the heck out of the AL Central/AL West. Can they get back now to playing the mighty AL East? Please?

I didn't even see that game (had Gameday following it) and reports of bad umpiring like that infuriates me. Glad the A's pitcher beared down and overcame it.

Where did you get that unbiased account?

Wieters does not look good on back to back days

Agree. And why would Buck choose to do it the first time with Gausman pitching - the pitcher Matt is least familiar with? He didn't look like he was very familiar with the breaks on Gaus' pitches at all.

I watched the game. That's where I got that unbiased account.

And I lied.

Teixeria did not go 0-for-5 with 3 strikeouts. He went 3-for-5.

And he is not batting .239 for the season. He is batting .267.

    • Westburg shouldn’t be, where are you seeing that?
    • So since Westburg is apparently still ROY eligible, Cowser and Westburg may project to be the best rookie combination since Fred Lynn and Jim Rice in 1975?
    • There were several and I was one them. I'm  on record as saying I was one of his biggest Apologists . You should feel good about yourself as you were able to see that Means would be imploding before our very eyes( which was an opinion or a guess, which is what I did) as far as feeling bad for me? Dont I'm plenty good enough to know I wont be able to guess right every time
    • Fantastic pickup by Elias and big kudos to O’Hearn for taking advantage of the resources to improve. He’s a great story.
    • Given his injury history and what’s happening right now, Means may make more money as an Oriole next year than as a free agent. He may have to settle for league minimum as a FA but would do better than that in arbitration. Heck, unless he’s effective at least a little this year then the orioles might release him after the season to avoid paying more than league minimum. I hope Means recovers, very much so, but this scenario is possible imo.    ps. I guess I ignored the part where you said if Means thinks he is healthy.
    • What I'd like to see in the next game Holliday plays, is for him to keep his eyes following through on the ball when he swings. In the last game I saw, he was yanking his head off the zone when he swung and couldn't see the bat to the ball. He was missing wildly and it wasn't even competitive. So, keep your eye on the ball! Follow all the way through! If your swing is so violent that it's yanking your head off the sight of the ball, then adjust your mechanics because you can't hit what you can't see!
    • What a great example of pedantic! Please tell us you meant to do that. I honestly can’t tell these days.
