If we really tanked over the next 2 weeks, Chen is a guy we could get a lot for from a contender needing a starter. But I don't think that will happen.

I would say that if we tank the next couple of weeks and are effectively out of it, we'd better look at trading Chen. Does anyone think that we have a better than 10% chance of resigning him? I certainly don't.

He's a guy who would likely get back the value of his pick (or better) if we traded him (even as a rental to someone), so we've got to look at doing that if we are out of the running upcoming.

That's cool. Avoid the rest of the post. Keep up the DD hate. Have fun.

Why are you getting so personally offended?

Lino could also have been used in a different trade, so maybe we wouldn't have needed to give up someone we like.

KRod was an overpay too. The kid turned out to have issues, but again, he could've been used for a better player. Hell, Buck wouldn't even play him.

There's really no need to try to label me as some DD hater. That's silly and shows that you're not willing to have a rational discussion.

But then we will have to watch Norris starting.

I am not personally offended. Logic is offended. According to you, what was a trade that wasn't an "overpay?" It seems you are using the word overpay to stand for any trade you didn't agree with or that we didn't get good value for. Which isn't the definition.

I hope you don't say DeAza, because I already LMAO at someone else that said he wouldn't have traded Chalas and Blackmar for him.

So, if you're not offended, are you just insulting me because you're a great guy?

Jim Johnson was not an overpay. Honestly, I'm not sure of many trades where DD didn't lose. He may not have lost by much, but I have a hard time seeing trades where he comes out on top.

Losing a trade doesn't not mean it was an overpay. And trading middling players for other middling players is not an overpay.

Giving up more than the value you're receiving is technically an overpay. If you want to use different terms for that, we can. But, DD doesn't typically get the better bargain on trades.

He had 11 appearances (9 starts) and ate 50.2 innings. He pitched 2.2 innings in relief which means, as a starter, he averaged 5 1/3 innings.

That counts as an innings eater?

That wasn't meant to be serious. That was the company line at the time.

Veteranosity?

So by your definition, KRod wasn't an overpay since we got more value out of him than Delmonico. I won't argue that he was misused and it was a pointless trade. But it wasn't an overpay.

I would also look at what else we could've got for Delmonico in another trade. He seemed to have more perceived value at the time than KRod. Overpay, misallocation of resources, whatever you want to call it. It was not a good trade.
