I can buy that it could have been significantly wind-aided. Williams did have some serious power, especially for a guy back in his day.

Not only that, but he was ahead of his time. Williams was really the first old time player who popularized the idea that a lighter bat led to increased bat speed which in turn generated power. Combined with his acute vision and quick hands it's not really hard to imagine that blast.

It's fine to say most players back then wouldn't have compared favorably, but The Kid doesn't fall into that category. And when Ortiz sacrifices his millions for service to this country then he can question one of the all time greats. Until then, who cares what he's shooting his mouth off about currently.
