Possible Trades

With Duquette saying he has a trade for an outfielder already on the table (Dan Connolly Sun), here is a list of the possible players, based on a number of factors like contract, team, and fit. Anyone not here is unrealistic or probably not enough. Although Ryan Braun would look really good in black and orange.

In no particular order, although I like Parra, especially since he is signable and hits lefties.

-Gerardo Parra: .309 w .344OBP - FA after this season.

-Ben Revere: .297 w .337OBP - Just started arbitration

-Cameron Maybin: .289 w .356OBP FA 2017

-Josh Reddick: .287 w .343OBP FA 2017 Hearing price is sky high

-Carlos Gonzalez: .259 w .314OBP would O's take his salary for lesser players?

-Justin Upton: .253 w .331OBP - FA after this season

-Jay Bruce: .251 w .341OBP would O's take his salary for lesser players?

-Curtis Granderson: .243 w .340OBP would O's take his salary for lesser players?

Just wanted to hear some thoughts on these.

3-team deal: Paredes to San Diego (it's about the name on the front, not the name on the back) and Gary Thorne's favorite OF comes here from Toronto.

edit to add: DO NOT WANT anyone whose name sounds like he played for Dook, ever.

With Duquette saying he has a trade for an outfielder already on the table (Dan Connolly Sun),

That is NOT what DD told Connolly:

"Trading for an outfielder is a consideration, Duquette acknowledged, but it's contingent on what he'd have to give up from a limited array of trade chips and what would be coming back in return.

"It depends on what the quality of the players that are available comparative to the players we have. So that's something we'll have to take a look at," Duquette said. "We would hope to get more production out of left field in the second half of the season."

Duquette added that Alvarez might be ready to help. The 26-year-old Cuban is hitting .284 with 13 homers at Triple-A Norfolk and has the best throwing arm among outfielders in the organization. But he has some warts. Alvarez has walked only seven times in 367 plate appearances this year, though he has only struck out 43 times."

Ohfan67:

A little less caffeine next time bro.

That's what the article I read, says. Feel free to interpret Duquette any way you like. No one knows what he really means because he speaks in riddles and always has.

It's an interesting topic, to me, to hear others opinions and how much they value certain players. Sorry to hear that's not your thing.

That's not even what the article you linked says. Sorry to hear that BS is your thing.

Really? I can recommend an optometrist or is it a reading tutor you need?

Directly from the site.

"One area that has not worked out as hoped for the Orioles is the outfield, as Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun explains. It was never going to be easy for the team to fill in for departed veterans Nelson Cruz and Nick Markakis, but the team’s efforts have obviously not quite panned out — as demonstrated by the fact that both Alejandro De Aza and Delmon Young ended up on the DFA ledger. Now, despite having a variety of options still on the roster, executive VP Dan Duquette indicates to Connolly that an outfield addition is on the table."

Not rocket science that DD is looking for an everyday OF.

Question is, can he find one that he can afford (In terms of what he has to trade)?

The problem is;

Duquette didn't trade Norris in the off-season. So many reasons this should have been done. He could have used that 8 million to get us a legit starting outfielder instead of getting 4 and hoping one sticks. His MO. Pick up a bunch of junk and hope Buck can weld it all together and make a good player out of 3.

Didn't work this time.

I think you are misinterpreting this. DD did not say a trade is on the table, and Connolly didn't write it. MLB trade rumors is simply saying that DD's words to Connolly indicate that such a possibility is on the table (under consideration.) This is very different than saying that an actual trade is on the table (offer in hand).

-Again, that is your interpretation and I am not arguing that, you may be correct. I am just stating what it says to me and taking it literally, which I do not know to be incorrect.

-TBH, I don't believe the Orioles FO will do much but, again, that's my opinion.

-I am more interested in the discussion of the players and their fit with the O's.

You do realize, of course that neither Connolly (who wrote the article MLBTR is referring to) nor DD said anything of the kind, don't you? You are taking a third party's (MLBTR) unusual choice of words describing the actual article and stretching that somehow into a firm statement that a trade offer exists. You are way overboard on this, I'm afraid.

Neither. You are clearly too full of BS to see what was actually written. Like, you know, the actual words. :) if you want to really discuss trades don't start a thread that attempts to mislead people that DD has an offer in hand.
