Tomahawk Chop

Anybody at the game witnessed the Braves fans doing their chop when they took the lead in the 9th. It sure felt good giving it back to them after we won the game.

Normally I wouldn't do something like that, but seeing that in our park rubbed me the wrong way.

I didn't see any tomahawk chops from where I was sitting (Section 18 in the accessible row). It was great to win the game and Markakis got a warm welcome, especially at the beginning of the game.

I was on the side of the Braves dugout so maybe that's why I noticed it.

We did that at a Virginia Tech / FSU game in Blacksburg a few years ago. They owned us for so long that when we finally beat them, we chopped them mercilessly. VT fans get loud, and this was LOUD.

I'm all for it. I wish I'd noticed it last night.

When you're that huge a Deion Sanders fan you just can't hold it in.

So, I was in the Marching Virginians back in the day. The drum majors had this little flip book they'd hold up with the name of the song we were going to play after the next down. Maybe 30 of these quick spirit spots we'd play during the huddle or after first downs or a big play or whatever. When we played FSU it took about three minutes to figure out that their band's song for all of those situations, and in fact every situation, was the tomahawk chop song. For four hours.

I'm not a violent man, and I'm 5' 7", 145. But if someone came up to me and did the chop I'd at least think about punching them in the nose.

My brother was at the national championship game. He said it was almost every second for the entire game. They tried it in Blacksburg, but we stole it.
