Orioles trade Davies for Parra. Your verdict?

Call me what you will, but I'm glad to hear that. I don't want to hear from Davies and if he doesn't cut it, some other likeable young player can.

I think it was a really bad trade on principle, but don't believe Davies ends up being any big loss. Parra was just a bad target and the decision to spend any potential MLB resources on bringing him in was flawed.

Sounds like a reasonable take. Some folks still think Davies has a MLB career worth more than the value we could have projected.

I think Tony-OH projects him as a solid ML starter. Combined with 6 years of service time and low pay for 3-4 years, that's pretty valuable.

I think so as well. Tony does not like this trade one bit.

I think he's a much better fit in the National League, and I also think the Brewers were as high as anyone on him. Not sure they project him as more than a back-end guy, but that's indeed valuable at cost-controlled prices. I believe he'd have a hard time navigating AL lineups consistently. Poor man's Leake, which is something but probably not something significant (in my opinion).

Either way, as I noted above, I think it was silly to give up even a potential MLB contributor for Parra.

I don't have an issue with the trade in and of itself. I just think we should have been sellers.

Flawed team and a bad trade. Parra isn't very good, and Davies should have been kept, either to join the major league team or included in a trade that would have given us a much better return on investment.

Gerardo Parra has a .628 OPS with the O's so far. We could have gotten better production from Travis Snider and just kept Zach Davies.

Not sure Snider could play CF, which Parra can.

Basically, the way I see it, Parra has replace Lough.

I was fine with Lough in the 4th OF role.

The Orioles haven't got enough production from either corner OF in some time.

Sinking 89-91 MPH fastball, plus swing and miss change, average curveball, all of which he commands.

Pitch F/X classifies his pitches into 7 different categories which means he changes speeds and looks on his pitches which increases his effectiveness. Plus he's 22-years old. On top of it, all seven have plus pitch values. No seriously, not one pitch is below average.

If Davies was still in our system, he's probably the number one or two prospect for me (Grant it it's more to do with a lack of options than anything, but still). Instead, we got a .574 OPS and a -1.2 WAR from Parra on a team that will finish below .500.

So for the 95 of you that was for this trade and especially for you folks that think Davies was nothing more than a throw away arm, how do you like that trade now?

This was a stupid trade at the time and it'll become epically bad as the Orioles try to put together their rotation next year minus Davies.

Tony: Sorry if you've already voiced this somewhere, but I'd like to know whether you would have rather traded Davies (plus perhaps other prospects or for other prospects instead of Davis) for a player or two better than Parra, stayed still until the off-season, or been a seller of some of our soon-to-be star free agents?
