  1. 1. Do you like the Davies for Parra trade?

    • I approve. A small price to pay to fix the O's OF hole with a quality veteran.
    • I disapprove. The O's gave up up a pitching prospect for a rental who won't move the needle.

Lol! His is one of those right moment things when I saw it. I couldn't just show this to someone and expect them to find it as funny as I did. But when I read your post then scrolled down to that meme, I laughed out loud for a few seconds. Good stuff.

It makes the O's a better team for 2 months, but is it enough to get them to the playoffs and past the WC game? That's my definition of "moving the needle."
It doesn't hurt and what is Davies going to do for us next year?

If we are serious we will be signing a FA SP better than Davies. If not who cares.

I'm really starting to question DD as a GM now.

He continues to overpay for rentals and marginal upgrades. Combine that with the pathetic offseason and it's very disappointing.

Doesnt seem like it is an overpay considering other trades occurring this season.

I like this move a lot more than I already like it if we do the following:

Dump Norris for Garcia

Trade Hunter and call up Givens

Trade for Revere and dump Lough

Sign Young for the bench/platoon with Paredes and dump Snider

That's a good chunk of upgrades right there.

Young is never an upgrade if you want him to play the CoF.

I like the Parra acquisition. He is worth the risk. Davies is not a small price to pay. But you have to trade value to get value.

Now make some more moves.

1) DFA Norris and call up McFarland

2) Add another bat either by promotion (Mancini or Alvarez) or by trade.

3) If they trade Hunter then call up Givens

If the Parra trade means the O's are going for it then they have to replace some of the dead wood.

Can't say I'm a fan of the deal, but Parra has a career obp of .330. Not fantastic but actually only exceeded by Machado this season. The .370 he's got going this year would be the team's best so hopefully he's able to keep it up.

@Buster_ESPN: The Orioles could still make a Yoenis Cespedes deal work, even after getting Gerardo Parra.

Now this though...

Bundy.

Just so I can uncross my fingers. They've badly cramped these last two years...
