Left-hander Wei-Yin Chen hasn't gone more than 5 1/3 innings in his last three starts, allowing 11 runs and 20 hits over 13 2/3. He's surrendered 14 runs and 30 hits over 20 innings in his last four starts.

Miguel Gonzalez hasn't exceeded 5 1/3 innings in seven of his last nine starts. He's allowed eight runs and 15 hits over 8 2/3 innings in his last two outings.

All issue's of concern always said Chen IMHO was not a guy who held up well over full seasons.

Chen had a 2.76 ERA after the ASB last year, averaging well over 6 IP per start. I'm not that worried about him. Gonzo worries me more, and Ubaldo worries me most.

There is another off day next week. After that we play 20 straight with the next off day Thursday September 3rd. They will more than likely rotate a guy in and out the pen as needed to help soak up innings. As long as the starters are letting up 2 runs in 5.1/3 innings we can survive, we can't if it is 4 runs. Buck protects his pen well so he can use them this time of the year.
