Hardball Times: Trading Disgruntled Players

I have no idea what Adam thinks or feels. But looking at it from my perspective he is underpaid.

And if the team isn't trying their best to win then why would he stay here. He is from Southern California.

Thats why I think its imperative that the Orioles make sure Manny and Adam are locked up long term.

Jones and Machado cannot be free-agents until the year 2019. They are locked up long term.

I AGREE 100%. Adam has made Baltimore his home, while he's here. But if this team isn't committed to winng, I'm sure he'd feel just at home in LA or NY.

Adam has a contract. That contract calls for him to be here until the end of the 2018 season. His home is in Baltimore for at least 3 years after this year.

Hell, they're barely hanging on to .500 now. Imagine where they would be without Davis.

Why would I imagine where they would be without Chris Davis? So he may leave in free agency. The Orioles will have $40 million to spend this off-season to replenish the team that still will have a core of Jones, Machado, Hardy, Schoop, Britton, Givens, Gausman, Tillman....they aren't going to fall off the map and become irrelevant.

We would have been better off in 2014 without Chris Davis, and without the hope of relying on him when he let us down for the playoff push.

Heck, we might even get another good player or two without spending 200 million.

I understand that. But that is not the way any professional player (in any sport) thinks. And the OP I was referring to was about disgruntled players.

From what I read about the incident, Cobb's father suspected that Cobb's mother was having an affair. He told her that he was going out for a while, but then snuck onto the roof of the house shortly after he left, hoping to catch her in the act.

This incident was apparently one of the reasons why Cobb became the hostile, bitter, raging man that he did.

But why must we assume that Jones will be the disgruntled player? Do we have any evidence other than an angry tweet when Markakis moved on that Jones is unhappy in Baltimore. Furthermore, this assumption that when Davis, Chen, and Wieters leave in free agency that we are going to be awful is baseless.

You better believe after last offseason he will be way more outspoken this year. Right from the beginning. He wasn't cool with Markakis leaving. He surely won't be cool if MW, CD, Chen and O'day all leave.

Nick was different. Nick was. That was personal. You'll see.

Depends on what comes back. The Orioles WILL have money to spend this year unlike last year when we had to cover arbitration raises.

No, he was made to lose his buddy. The guy who was also tethered to the community.

This is ridiculous - we have not been a losing team since 2011. For four years we have been a winning team.

People are already assuming a "bad offseason" and complaining about it in advance and imagining scenarios where it will hurt our team.

Hilarious.
