Now, this year. This year, Machado has slugged .319 against pitches down, and .730 against pitches up, for a difference of 411 points. That ranks him highest, out of 198. So it?s a very strong preference up in the zone. Ideally, this could be done based on something other than batted-ball results, but we have to go with what we have, and it?s still pretty telling. Machado has done the bulk of his damage against elevated pitches. Previously, that hadn?t been the case.

Congenital not chronic condition with the knees. The operations were successful and now he presents a stronger base with his lower body from which he generates much more power.

The secret to Manny's power is the back spin he gets. Easier to get that on pitches up. Any way Manny hits to all fields and in all zones. Terrific hitter. Almost makes you forget his glove.

Sounds like the league would adjust and pitch him down.

I'm sure its going to happen.

And Manny will still hit.

Maybe he adjust his approach a bit to generate more power down in the zone, but he still hits the ball hard no matter where its pitched.

Could be Coolbaugh, or just a superstar coming into his own.

I think the last real weakness in his game is his habit of popping up. I can't find the link, but I've read before that he's pops up way too much and isn't going to sustain a super high BABIP because of it.
