Tonight is the most important rain out of the season

With one report of 100% rain at 7 PM, we can only conclude that not only is this one of the most important potential rain outs in Orioles history, but the franchise's future itself is at stake. For it was written on this day, that all ye who will listen shall inherent its benevolent wisdom of thy messiah.

Though some of ye shall deny his benevolence, I have just this to say:

"I say you are, Lord, and I should know, I've followed a few"

The most galling thing of it is, if the rain takes away Schoop's ability to impersonate Dempsey sliding on the tarp, then more people have been to Camden Yards than I have. I'd gladly trade that prospect for Zach Davies. Or even a baseball signed by Zach Davies.

Or Zach Davis: the ultimate fusion of the best qualities of Chris Davis and Zach Britton. Bring him in to pinch hit in the top of the 9th as our "Opener" (the opposite of a Closer), then bring him in in the bottom of the 9th to pitch.

He could finish the first game, and be the starter for the next game....

The following excerpt comes directly from the DPRK People's Liberation News Network:

"Little did the Kingdom of Orioles realize that the impending rainout prevented the armada of rampaging Space Lobsters from laying waste to the Yards known as Camden. Had the Space Lobsters subjugated the entirety of the Orioles, they would have been fed as a ritual sacrifice to the Krakken."

Good find. I think his lip is swollen there, too. I think some folks back in the day pointed to this as proof William Campbell became "Dead Paul's" fill in from this point onward.

O's84, Tx Oriole, Orioles4Life21

Are the only 3 that seemed confused based on responses

They also coincidentally are the only 3 with a user name with 'Orioles' clearly in name.

What does this tell us you ask?

Well it shows us they are straight shooters and the rest of us have psychopathic tendencies.

That is all.

Thanks for playing.

What are you talking about?

"The attempt to impose upon man, a creature of growth and capable of sweetness, to ooze juicily at the last round the bearded lips of God, to attempt to impose, I say, laws and conditions appropriate to a mechanical creation, against this I raise my sword-pen."

    • I like Vazquez a little bit. I don't know how much he will hit at the upper levels, but he controls the strike zone, can run a bit, and is a good defender. He's got a utility player ceiling but for a 30K 20th round pick, he looks like a very nice org guy at the very least.
    • Well, he has hasn't done anything at the major league level yet and he still has defensive issues so we don't know whether he was a good 2nd round pick or not.  I think the bat is going to play at the major league level, but I see him more as a major league regular bat, with sketchy defensive traits until he can master corner outfield. But really my comment was more on the philosophy more than anything else. Looking at that draft, there's not a lot of guys who have made it to the majors or produced much in that 3-5 rounds yet.   It's hard to find signable high school talent after the first couple of rounds unless a team can go overslot, especially now that these top players can make pretty good NIL money in college. They know they ca have a good college experience, and play in front of packed crowds for the top programs, rather than taking long bus rides to Savannah, GA to play in front of 700 people on a Tuesday night.  So we're seeing a lot more college heavy drafts. Darrel Hernaiz is the only high school drafted player outside of the first round that has made the majors from an Elias draft.  Now Mayo should be the second, but he of course was a COVID draft overslot.
    • Mike Wright?   Ouch!
    • Whenever I get excited about the first two starts a pitcher has, I just remember Mike Wright, who pitched two seven inning shutouts out of the gate.
    • This reminded me of, in the 90’s, anecdotally, every year, Mussina would have at least one outing where he’d just get absolutely SHELLED.
    • If he throws that many hittable pitches in the heart of the plate against the Yankees (or any Major League team for that matter) he is likely to get a similar result.
    • Nick Pollack's write up mentioned the BABIP, though certainly watching that performance it was the kind of performance to make you think Voros McCracken and DIPS theory is hokum. I don't think it was random variation getting pummeled there last night.     Hopefully the Angels didn't find any cues the Yankees might also be able to benefit from.
