Reverse Macphail Philosophy

Macphail is way overrated. He traded Bedard and got a haul, hard to mess that one up. He also traded for Sosa, and signed Garret Atkins. The guy was horrible.

Look at Duquette's trades.

Now look at MacPhail's trades.

It's night and day.

Yes, MacPhail was NOT good at creating organizational depth. But the man did a fabulous job of "fleecing" other organizations. His Bedard, Koji, and Tejada trades were fantastic for this organization.

Easy to trade when you have a perennial losing team with a few Stellar cost controlled players. Easy. You could even do it.

This is incredibly reductive. Even considering MacPhail's favorable trading position, his returns were huge.

And all very true. And Andy could trade well. From an absolute position of unfettered strength. They were going to be traded. He took his time. And listened to all the offers. For his VERY VALUABLE ASSETS.
