How many high OBP guys can we realistically add this offseason?

Plate discipline is not an end unto itself. I'd rather have a guy with a .300 BA and a .330 OBP than a guy with a .230 BA and a .310 OBP (assuming power is equal). In fact, I'd rather have a .300/.330 guy than a .250/.330, because hits are better than walks.

But it is a good way to get guys who you think you can fix and/or get on the cheap.

I like the Jaso idea. On-base superstar (.361 lifetime, throw out one year and its over .370) who's also got a bit of pop and should be affordable. Zobrist would also be a great fit to swing around LF/RF/2B, and he's a switch hitter to boot.

I'd rather spend Wieter's $15.8m qualifying offer on those two then on Matt.

Ultimately, though, I'd rather re-sign Davis. With our park, the O's offense should always value power.

Zobrist, Jaso+FA SP > CD 25m.

Anywho, I was going to start a thread on this but it would probably go down like a lead balloon. Here are how some of the current O's rate career wise in plate discipline.

Matt Wieters-62

Caleb Joseph-61

JJ Hardy-50

Manny Machado-49(getting better)

Gerardo Parra-49

Adam Jones-41

Here are some of the FA names being kicked around the board.
