The Oriole Model- Three run homeruns and defense is it changing?

When Dan Duquette joined the Orioles his mantra was on Base percentage and Pitching. Will the unlikely prospect of signing Davis, lead to Duquette finally being able to build the team he envisioned when he came here? Will we see a FA pitcher and high percentage on base guys as this off season target? Do you see us moving to the Royals model and having fewer high strikeout players on the roster?

I don't. I believe Dan knows that OBP is a byproduct of decent power.

If that's predominantly the case, and since the Orioles have decent power up and down the lineup, why don't they have a higher OBP?

It is not mandatory. But it is a competent. You gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, Then you get the woman.

The best offense is a balanced offense IMO. An offense with only one player over .340 OBP is not balanced. If OBP is a product of power, how is it that people like Fowler, Span, Zobrist, Span, etc, have high career OBP. People who make categorical pronouncements about baseball know very little about baseball, because the only sure thing about baseball is there are no sure things in baseball.
