Red Sox

The Red Sox have solid positional depth. President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said the main focus this offseason is to acquire starting and relief pitching. Except for adding a fourth outfielder, Dombrowski said he doesn't plan to add any other positional players.

Rays

The Rays' President of Baseball Operations, Matt Silverman, told reporters that the Rays' budget will not increase in the 2016 season.

Orioles

"We need to focus on a stronger pitching staff. I know we've got plenty of free agents to sign, but any informed analysis of a team is you've got to have a good pitching staff," Duquette said. "That's where it starts and that's where we're going to put our focus in the offseason."

When asked if he thought the club would be able to purchase a free agent ace ? the top of the class is led by David Price, Johnny Cueto and potentially Zack Greinke ? and still have a chance at retaining Davis, who could demand a six-year or longer contract worth $20 million or more annually, Duquette said he was hopeful.

Talk is cheap. I can't wait to see the pitching moves.

Yeah, I don't think they will be impressive signings myself. They might be better than what they initially appear. Unlike the Fister deal was for Washington, and the Porcello deal and extension was for Boston. You just can never tell on initial offsesaon view. Pitchers are so fickle.

Yeah' date=' until they prove otherwise I'm not holding my breath on any marquee signings. Maybe they make a special case for Davis but I can't see them signing a Price or a Greinke.[/quote']Nor should they. 30M AAV is too much for any SP. Especially if they cost a pick as well as does Greinke.

If the Red Sox shore up their pitching, they'll be dangerous nest year. They were 4th in runs scored and have a lot of young players who will improve.

That is what I figured. Dombrowski will improve the major league team.

Dombrowski said that “any of” the top starters on both the trade and free agent markets “are under consideration for us” as the Sox are casting a wide net in looking for an ace. “The [free agent] market is probably, as flush as it is…an area that we would pursue more, but I think that you’d feel comfortable that any names out there, you could say we have interest in them and hopefully somebody will have interest in us,” Dombrowski said. When asked about Red Sox ownership’s recent reluctance to give long-term deals to pitchers, Dombrowski discussed the importance and necessity of keeping upper management informed about any major signing. “I don’t think anyone really cherishes giving that long term of a contract to any pitcher in particular but it’s a situation [where]…if you’re going to participate, you’re most likely going to have to do that,” Dombrowski said.

True. But I bet they wish the Dodgers would bail them out of all of their bad contracts again.
