Nick Cafardo: Boston trying to move Ramirez, Orioles one of three targets

1. Hanley Ramirez, 1B-DH, Red Sox - There's now talk in the front office that Dave Dombrowski is trying to move Ramirez in a deal. The Mariners, Orioles, and Angels seem to be the targets, and all three make sense. There are huge hurdles to cross, however. One is money. With a little more than $68 million remaining on Ramirez's deal, the Red Sox would need to eat at least half. The other hurdle is position. All three teams would have use for him as a DH.

So how you do y'all feel about Han-Ram coming to town?

:laughlol: <--- Me. Give me Jackie Bradley Jr. with him as compensation and we can talk.

So, Boston wants the Orioles to free them of the horrible deal they gave Ramirez? Then they can use that to get Price? Only if they include Sandoval, and will accept a mediocre package like maybe Manny and Gausman and maybe School too. But they'd have to eat a million or two of Ramirez and Pandas contract. In other words...HA!

They have the money to get Price. They will use what ever they save on HanRam to put toward CD.

Talk about your high risk, high reward players. At his best, HanRam is a monster at the plate. But he needs to be a full-time DH, and even then, it's hard to know what you'll get. I'd have to agree that his salary (4/$90.25 at this point) is about double his market value, and maybe more.

The final year is a vesting option (tied to plate appearances in 17/18 and physical), so if he ends-up done over the course of the first three years you shouldn't be hindered by that fourth contract year.

3/$63MM? Nah. 3/$43MM? Now I'm interested.
