Sounds good to me. And sets a value for Matusz as well. Of course you could get Miller for a little bit of nothing. Except that the Yankees are afraid of that forearm. I think he'll be fine myself.

Two interesting things to take away from the Chapman trade.

1. The reds are in definite fire sale/rebuild mode. So being as we need a LH hitter this would bring Jay Bruce's name back up as a fit for us.

2. The Cubs and Astros still need closers. We've seen Chapman and Soria go off the market in the last 24 hours. With three years of arb left, Britton would be the best available. If available.

I gotta say though, looking at Bruce's numbers, it would basically have to be a salary dump in terms of prospects.

Miller is looming though.

What about Boxberger in Tampa?

He is a 4 era closer. But folks dig that too. Giles is a good deal as well, but unproven and will cost about as much as Britton. If we were to listen on Britton. Which does not appear to be something that is occurring.

Can't listen on Britton until DoD's ink dries.

To me that's insane. Sipp's career fWAR is 1.0 and his career WPA is 1.4. RA-9 WAR is 4.0, career. He's 32. Hasn't thrown 60 innings in a season in four years. 2016 Steamer forecast is 0.3 fWAR. I'd much, much rather go with that throw-in from the Trumbo deal for $500k.

In full offseason mode, I'm going to read waaaay too much into the Sipp interest. If Matusz is going to the rotation and Britton is traded we're going to need a LH for the pen. Sipp would essentially take Matusz's spot, and BP salary, maybe even pick up some spot saves.

Also the Mets and dbacks were in on Soria per MLBTR. So there's the Cubs, Astros, Mets, Dbacks, at the very least that would probably be interested in Britton.

Now the non serious part. Maybe the Mets, pull a Mets, and trade us Harvey and Cuddyer or Niese(salary dumps) for Britton and Flaherty. :vader:

Weams should be happy. His two favorites pitchers. My money is on Dougy.

The Orioles have known interest in a few pitchers on that list, including ex-Rangers right-hander Yovani Gallardo and former Nationals right-hander Doug Fister. Gallardo, 29, is younger so he could command a four-year commitment. Fister, who was demoted to the Nationals pen last season, might be a better bargain and less of a commitment given his recent struggles.

I'd rather take a one year flyer on Fister and keep the pick.
