I wouldn't hesitate to trade him in the right deal. I think it would be selling high. I don't see anything besides that lively fastball to get excited about.

After watching what Arrieta did this year, I'm hesitant to underestimate the ceiling of what Gausman might be capable of. My conservative side says most likely his ceiling is a strong no. 2 -- 200 IP and an ERA in the low 3's, close to 9 K/9. And I'd be very happy if he reached that level eventually. But maybe I am selling his potential short.

His ceiling is Bobby Mathews. What, you don't see any 600-inning seasons in his future? Don't think he could be a top pitcher for 15 years then get screwed out of a plaque in Cooperstown by the vagueries of history?
