But as usual signed no one after the Winter meetings or before

Christmas, This is just a common trait with DD. I'm not saying

we didn't sign anyone but not the player to get the O's over

the top. This is so typical of DD.

Yeah actually you did in the sentence prior.

So basically, you believe you know more than DD does, and the rest of MLB does, for that matter.

Did the Kim deal fall through?

Yes, DD is a patient guy. So was MacPhail. So was Flanagan. So was Beattie. It's a common trait among teams on a tight budget that they wait for prices to come down. As a general rule, the earlier you sign players, the more you pay. So yes, as a fan, it is kind of frustrating. But it's not going to change, so you just have to live with it.

Jason Heyward, Johnny Cueto.

I was thinking those were during the winter meetings, but I guess they came immediately after. The point still stands, though, in that means less happened at the winter meetings. What are we at now? Only 6 of the top 20 projected FA off the board?

Which players that the O's are interested in have signed elsewhere?

I have a very hard time saying tight budget, when you are not in the bottom 1/3 of the league in payroll and you are over the 100 million mark.

As much I love Flanny, he wasn't that hot as a GM.

That would be payroll. If the assumption of a $40M Spending budget is correct, then there isn't much money left.

I also think DD is big on watching the other teams sign players which causes log jams or odd man out situations.

I sometimes have wondered whether there are any tax implications related to the large transaction of a major free agent deal (particularly as this is a family run business) for end of the year signings versus signing in the next calendar year.
