No, I think your methodology is better. But I assume you don't have the time to do it for all 30 teams, so I'm using BB-ref as my source for where the O's payroll is ranked among all MLB teams. It wouldn't be right to adjust the Orioles' payroll as you have to make it more accurate, and then compare it to unadjusted figures for the other teams.
