And I often ask him "Are you looking for the mother lode?"

No, no my child, this is not my desire.

Any scale given on the outfielders? I know they can't draw a wall because of different ballparks, but they look pretty deep. Would be interested to see how OF depth compares to other batters. Any clue as to what the depth of the foul lines are?

That was awesome. I absolutely adore Chris Davis. I have no shame in that either. [emoji28]

He is certainly one of my favorite O's even including some of the guys from when I was a boy. Seems like a great guy and I have heard nothing from those who have met him to change that perception (put differently, everything I have heard reinforces that notion).

Roch Kubatko Transcription

http://www.masnsports.com/school-of-roch/2016/01/hearing-from-chris-davis-and-scott-boras.html

"Offers that go public and all the other offers you receive, you have a pretty special ballplayer, so the category of where teams are making offers are certainly, there's a historic value to it. There are a number of players that are in that market, so to answer your question, I've done this a long time (and) no, it wasn't surprising at all. The problem is things get portrayed in the paper that aren't quite accurate, and when you're finalizing deals ... sometimes deals are interesting because sometimes they don't happen then all of a sudden they happen with a flurry. And then sometimes you get 90 percent of the way and it takes a long time to get to the last portion."

Somehow, I believe he had not played the Nationals card with the Lerners yet.

I think people who read what Boras had to say need to revise their cartoon character image of him. Sure he's out to get the best deal he can, but the idea that he doesn't listen to his clients or consider what's in their best interests is simply wrong.

That didn't stop Boras for pushing for a "little" extra. Davis said, ""I don't think so. I think that's one thing that I've really tried to instill not only in my small child but something that was instilled in me as a child is, who you are is not defined by how much money you make, what you do. Who you are is where you were raised. It's your family, it's your core values, and I don't think any amount of money could change that. " To you and me, $7M-11M is life changing money (the difference between th offer on the table and the final deal), but is it to Davis? Maybe Davis is trying to play down a franchise record deal, but my opinion is it dragged on far too long and the question is why.
