Weren't Bonnie and Clyde and the James Gang heroes? It all depends upon your perspective.

You can view those who were caught differently from those who weren't, but it's difficult to justify viewing those who are only suspected from those who aren't. Last night, some sports commentator was commenting about how no hint of steroids use has ever been associated with Ken Griffey Jr. Huh? Many confirmed steroids users also had a tendency towards chronic injuries: Bigbie, Segui, Caminiti. Caminiti blamed his injuries on his use of steroids, whether rightly or wrongly I couldn't say. Were the chronic injury problems of Chris Carpenter, Eric Davis, Donovan Osborne, Rich Harden, Matt Riley, Garrett Stephenson, and Matt Mulder the result of steroids abuse, or just fragile physiology?

IMO, the big image problem with roids is that there's nothing romantic about needles. Now, if it was something you had to rub on your elbow without anybody seeing it, but you had to do it while the umps were looking right at you, then people might like it. But if it's just using needles when nobody's looking, that's hard to sell.

As for HGH, I think that whole thing is mainly guilt-by-association with roids.

Same thing with greenies. Greenies were OK with everybody until all this roids mess happened.
