If the O's and Reds are still talking, that would lead me to believe that Brady's report to Buck would suggest that Kim may not be ready and the O's need a backup plan. I see Fowler in left field and Bruce in right field; with Bruce eventually filling the role abandoned by Steve Pearce. Just my .02

They are not getting Fowler and Bruce. One or the other.

Brady is also the only reason we have signed Reimold the past 2 years and we are seeing how that recommendation has gone as well. I think your analysis is good, you may be right on Kim but just saying, I don't entirely trust Brady's assessment of players.

So, because Nolan was an above average hitter last year, you don't trust Brady's player assessment? That's some good reasoning.

Yep .... I don't have any problem trusting Brady. Reimold was better than most of our corner OF options last year. Because he did produce star level stats Brady should be criticized. You can't make shrimp salad out of chicken. Reimold was even better than Duquettes choice to help the position mid season (Parra).

I didnt know he was the reason for Nolan signing. I would think that there are

others better than Nolan for a backup role. IMO

Bruce is a bluff to induce Fowler to sign. That is my reading of it. Bruce is a poor fit offensively and defensively.

Man, I hope your right because Jay Bruce is an absolutely horrible fit for this team. If they can't get Fowler, then the right move would be to put Trumbo out in RF and sign Pedro Alvarez for DH.

Better than an above average ML hitter? Please tell us who they are.

We need a backup who can field. I'd much rather have Navarro or D Alvarez on the roster (assuming the also want to keep Rickard), than Reimold. When we need an extra RP, you can send them down.

How strong is Rickard supposed to be defensively? I feel like I remember reading that he could back up Adam Jones in CF, but is he expected to be a plus-defender?

Just curious how much of a defensive liability our outfield would be if we had someone like Bruce or Trumbo seeing starts out there as well.

I think Jones, Fowler, Kim/Remiold would be a strong combo.

I think we know what we're getting ourselves into with Nolan. He had an OPS under .700 until his hot streak the last 7 days of the season. Check out the splits, he killed in June and in Sept/Oct. He did post a .791 OPS vs LHP for the year. And that's what his role will and should be.

On a side note we couldn't buy a guy to hit in August. Nolan had a .399 OPS. That was a long month.
